and another one bites the dust

This was the adorable little house that we walked through this morning in hopes that we had finally found our farmhouse.
well, being married to a structural engineer ain't all its designed to be. Its better and worse. I had fallen in love with all the neat survivalist features of the place and was willing to live in a tiny home because it was so darn cute and convenient and the layout of the land was perfect in my eyes. Man, how can you beat only 9 minutes into town to get groceries with a 13 acre spread of hills, trees, ponds, bridges, fire pits, nice tool shed and a swing on the front porch?
Unfortunately, circumstances for building our own home being impractical, we are left to the mercies of the DIY farmer who may not know all Steve knows about why buildings fall down, roofs leak, and walls collapse. This one was a beauty, but it had foundation problems and the roof had been improperly laid and was on the way to being a shower head instead of a roof. So, although it was the perfect price, the best features and pretty good soil, it is NOT the place. Oh, and there were planes from the airbase flying overhead, which made Steve nervous.
So, another day trip to Warrensburg and I have begun to memorize the landscape. I now notice when the billboards have changed and if it looks like the houses along highway 50 are occupied or not. I have also lost track of how many trips we have made in the past year and half since we decided that we want to live close to highway 50 and Warrensburg, Missouri. sigh.
