This pic is for Chellie
Here is a before shot of our home. I like to tell myself that it is only temporarily leaking water into my bedroom wall and through the chimney in the front room. Well, Christmas came early yesterday for us......Steve went to an auction that was off loading some building supplies and was able to snag enough siding to take care of most of this exterior work. We still need to purchase a paint gun, primer, paint, air compresser, plywood and tyvek (to wrap and insulate the house in before installing the hardiboard). We also need to find the right trim and wood for the soffits, cricket and eventually wood for the new porch. As usual, there is much more to be done than we feel was accomplished this weekend. But.....we DID get the Christmas tree up!!!! (at least it was up until Johnny pulled it down and then we had to get it up again. Charlie Brown has nothing on us......)
For those curious about the interior, there is no finished space in it. However there are 4 bedrooms in various stages of having flooring and walls finished. 2 bathrooms are partially functioning. Our kitchen is fully functioning and will be finished once we fix a broken cabinet. Our intentions for the kitchen are ambitious but won't be started until the more urgent stuff is done. (it involves knocking down a couple of walls, putting flooring in a room and building shelves to create a pantry.....also replacing the countertop on the island to create a seating area there).
There is an unfinished basement that is partially framed out with a bathtub/shower functioning but no other plumbing in the basement yet. Our intentions are to finish it out as a 2 bedroom, 1 bath, family room and kitchennette. Then we can have family and friends come stay with us for extended periods of time and still maintain a little privacy.
The food storage room is almost done! We have been building a wall that will support the overspanned rafters above it. Yeah!
Above the garage is a master suite that was partially framed out. We won't begin work on the master suite until the other parts of the house are finished. For now we have the stairwell to it boarded up.
We also have plans to finish the mud room (by mudding and taping, sanding and painting the walls, framing the window, installing the flooring, etc, etc.......) and..........there are plans to knock down the wall in the dining room to put in built in cabinets for our books. Yes, these are all interior improvements and don't even include the plans for the addition off the back of the house so I haven't ordered my seed catalogs yet:)

Wow! I am glad things are progressing so well. Sam keeps asking when we are going to see his cousins, "we haven't seen them in a decade" he says. Funny that, he hasn't been alive for a decade yet. . .
